Ryan Doumit's dad, Pete Doumit, published the book "What I Know about Baseball is What I Know about Life" in 2007, telling
what he knows about what baseball and life have in common.
As an educator, a coach and an administrator, he has worked with students and athletes for 33 years. His 1999 Moses Lake
High School baseball team was the only high school team to date that has ever had three players selected in the first two
rounds of the Major League Baseball amateur draft. One of those was his son, Ryan, now the starting catcher for the Pittsburgh
Pirates.
Ryan wrote the forward to this book, talking about how, as a player coming up in the minor league system and exposed
to some of the best coaches in the world, there was never a concept that didn't sound at least familiar to him - he'd heard
it, or learned it, from his dad.
To this day, Ryan considers his dad to be his greatest coach.
